Following one of our recent Business Forums, Melton BID teamed up with Melton Borough Council to better understand how local businesses approach accessibility, including the opportunities linked to the Purple Pound – the spending power of disabled people and their households.
In the UK, 1 in 5 people have a long-term impairment that affects their ability to carry out everyday activities. These impairments may be visual, hearing, motor-related, or cognitive. Visit Britain estimates that tourism trips in England involving people with an impairment generate around £14.6 billion each year.
Improving accessibility helps create better experiences for all customers, employees and visitors, whose needs can vary at different times and in different situations.
